MINUTES - D.R.Y.L. Meeting hosted by Happy Hour Yacht Club on January 7, 2008
OPENING: Meeting called to order @ 8:03pm. Flag salute and moment of silence for Bob Davis from Neshaminy Harbor Yacht Club. President Jusino introduced Commodore Ron Patterson, who welcomed the DRYL and thanked everyone for coming.
Guest Speaker: Captain Mike Jarvis of Sea Tow. He mentioned that it’s the 25th anniversary of Sea Tow and will be offering a special package to DRYL members at a reduced cost of $125/yr, which is a savings of $24 and will be available until March 15th.
Sea Tow is available 24/7 12 months a year. Sea Tow now offers boat insurance that is underwritten by AIG. A Sea Tow representative will come to your club to do a presentation if you request it.

OFFICERS & COMMITTEE REPORTS
President: President Jusino thanked officers, members and delegates for their support and electing him for another year as president. New list of committee heads was distributed. Juice was invited by the US Coast Guard Director of Contingency Planning to participate on the Area Committee which deals with boating and river front issues. The committee meets quarterly and the next meeting is June. The Naval Ship and Vessel Coordinator from Penn’s Landing who is planning a boating safety day in June also contacted him. Looking for input, demonstrations or any other help. Juice also will represent the DRYL on the Oil Spill Committee. Juice spoke about the letters that are available on the DRYL website concerning HR2550 and stressed the need for letters to be sent to your representatives. No further information available on a date for the joint DRYL and CBYCA meeting.

2nd Vice President: Butch Gricco – thanked delegates for re-electing him.
3rd Vice President: Steve Zielinski – no report.
Secretary: Rick Patton – Forms to collect new delegate information/changes made available.
Audit & Budget: Bill Branchide – no report.
Banquet: Mary Jusino – February 23, 2008 at Canstatters. Dinner choice: Stuffed flounder or prime rib. Will have a DJ. Tickets are $40/pp and are now available.
Cruise: Bob Bocock gave report – Cruise starting 7/12-18. Itinerary information will follow. Applications will be available at the next meeting.
Donations – no report.
Fleet Surgeon: Harry Borgenson – Preventative maintenance is good for you boat as well as good for your body. Companies offer “check up” packages and suggested it’s a good idea to know what is going on inside your own body.
Pageant: Toni Nespola – Introduced princesses in attendance. Let princess know what club policy is regarding DRYL banquet tickets – e.g. her costs and/or escorts costs. Queen Leann represented the DRYL at the CBYCA Banquet in December. Pageant will be August 9th at the Seaport Museum. Preliminary interviews will be August 6th at Canstatters. Packages will be available at the February meeting.
Picnic: Joe Gricco – More information in February.
Public Affairs: Bill Garwood – announced that DRYL will be offering a boating safety class on February 23rd which will begin at 8am. One-day course will be $18 – reservations must be made. Lunch will be included. If interested, contact Bill Garwood.
Regatta: Fred Saunders – no report.
Safe Boating: Frank Gilbert - Printed an article from Coast Guard publication about danger of electrocution concerning personal safety as well as the damage electricity does to lower units and hulls.
Shoreline Planning: Joe Campbell – no report.
Webmaster: Paul Jusino – Juice thanked Bryon for his efforts as webmaster. Juice will be the interim webmaster…until a new webmaster is found. Juice mentioned several new items now available as well as links to various boating sites.
Yearbook: Denise Leo – thanked everyone for ads that were received. Club pages and ads are due by the next meeting…electronic versions are preferred, but we continue to accept paper. Prices will be rolled back to what they were last year. Anyone who paid the higher price will be refunded.
Boater Voter: Joe Campbell – no report.
CBYCA: Bob Williams – no report
National Boating Federation (NBF): Bob Williams – no report.
NJ Legislation: John Honer – information on 10 bills still pending. New legislature gets sworn in this month. John provided information about Philadelphia’s new fireboat that went into service on January 1, 2008.
Pennsylvania Boating Association - SE (PBA): Bill Garwood – meeting at Wissinoming Yacht Club on January 16. Dinner at 7pm, meeting at 8pm. Guest speaker will be Captain Ted Hara of US Coast Guard. Please call 215-817-3451 or 215-947-4987 if you plan to attend.

NEW BUSINESS
· Doc only has a few t-shirts / sweatshirts left. Vote was taken and approved to order more and change the design.
· Two new delegates, Rex Mullins and Tom McGlinchey, introduced for Riverwinds YC.
· Anna Friars suggested a banner to hang in the Battleship New Jersey signifying the clubs of DRYL. Good idea.
· $83.05 to Secretary for supplies
· $12.61 to President for yearbook copies
· $119.40 for web posting
· $37.78 to Mike Kovacs for stamps and envelopes
· John Maloney set up a meeting with Mike Mageehan’s office concerning HR2550
· Ballots were distributed for persons of the year vote. Voting conducted. Results at the banquet.
· Club of the year had only one nomination.
FINANCIAL REPORTS
A motion was made, seconded and approved to pay the bills.
GOOD AND WELFARE
· Harbor Lights Commodore’s Ball was canceled. New date will be announced.
· Pennsylvania Yacht Club’s Banquet is January 12th. Cocktails at 7pm
· Yapewi Aquatic Club Commodore’s Gala is January 26th. Call Mike Kovacs
· 50/50 was $76 won by Yapewi
